Artist, educator, designer and maker, Amanda Kerr is a wife and mother of 3. A long-time resident of Castle Rock Colorado, Amanda has a BFA from UW-Milwaukee in theater production and a Masters of Education from Regis University in Denver. Currently, she teaches ceramics and jewelry at Castle View High School.
Her work ranges from traditional to very expressive and modern depending on what moves her in the moment. After viewing an exhibit at Denver Art Museum on Andrew and Jamie Wyeth, her love of using cardboard and other materials as her “canvas” was revived and the juxtaposition of fine art and frames with the torn edges of the cardboard appealed to her love of texture and contradiction. Her paintings are often layered with textures from either acrylic mediums or from fabric, tissue or lace, is thick with paint and gilded with gold, silver, and copper leaf.
