CRAC to launch Veterans Art Therapy program

Veterans Art Therapy is a joint program between the Castle Rock Artist Cooperative (CRAC) and the Douglas County Veterans Monument Foundation (DCVMF) — both Colorado-based 501(c)(3)’s — to assist local veterans who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress. It is a six-month program designed to use the healing qualities of art to help veterans battling PTS.

With the help of the DCVMF, CRAC will be selecting 10 local veterans (must live in Douglas County, must have been honorably discharged, and must be able to show DD214) to attend the six-month program, and these students will be able to attend the class at no expense to them. The 10 students will meet at the Hobby Lobby in Castle Rock (1361 New Beale St #200, Castle Rock, CO 80108) for three hours a week, for 26 weeks, during the class instructed by local painter and CRAC member Carol Hein. The six-month program will culminate with an art show featuring the art of the students in the program, which will be open to the public.

This unique program is funded completely through the generous donations of citizens like you. We are looking for donations of $600 per student that covers the classroom, instructor, and all the supplies, for a total of $6,000 for the entire six-month program. We will continue the program as long as our funding is available.
