I studied art at Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in art education. I have work experience: as a pre-k through 5th-grade art teacher, graphic artist, free-lance artist, faux painter, muralist, potter and pottery teacher.
Currently, I am focused on both painting and ceramics. In my impressionist painting in acrylics, I like to experiment with a variety of techniques and subject matters. In ceramics, I’m always trying to improve my forms and surface decoration.
While teaching pottery at the Castle Rock Rec. Center, I try to instill in my students to enjoy the process of creating art. It’s important to be patient and kind with ourselves when learning a new medium and appreciate our efforts … as we learn from both our failures and our successes.
