John loves being an artist in Colorado. “Living in this state allows me to really enjoy all the aspects of Western landscape painting and being able to be outside in all seasons as inspiration for my work”. John loves to paint on location as he values the sights, sounds and smells of nature. This allows him the opportunity to experience first hand what his clients enjoy, enables his creativity, and helps him incorporate those feelings into a painting or drawing.
John was born, and raised in Nebraska; however, he now lives in the beautiful state of Colorado. The Colorado landscape allows him to enjoy the outdoors and gives him opportunities to paint many great aspects of the Western Landscape such as: mountains, wildlife, roaring rivers, streams, and all that nature provides. He was gifted with the ability to paint and draw and is self-taught; however, he has had the opportunity and privilege to have mentored with a few other artists. Recently, John mentored with Professional Artist Jay Moore (Parker, Colorado) through his mentorship program. “This priceless experience was amazing ~ learning from a master artist like Jay was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. This has certainly provided a jump start for me in becoming a better professional artist”. John also recalls a great story when he was very young. He would always get in trouble from the teachers in school for sketching in class. “When I was in fifth grade a teacher finally told my mother that everyone should allow me to pursue what I liked to do and that I had talent”. To this day, John remembers this teacher (Mrs. Jennings) as a very positive influence in his pursuit of drawing and painting professionally.
John has a college degree in architecture and worked in this field for a few years before moving into sales and marketing opportunities. His work experiences have allowed him to be successful and to develop many personal relationships; however, he never lost the passion for drawing and painting.
He continues to learn new concepts, refine his skills, and build on what he has learned from others as an artist. All of his works are original paintings and drawings completed specifically for each client based on their personal story, surroundings, emotions, and what’s important to them and their families.
“The best part of being an artist for me is listening carefully to each client’s story as they describe their experiences of what they would like me to capture within their personal piece of art. This may be a story of their parent’s ranch, cabin, favorite lake or fishing spot, scenery from a hiking trail, or other places they would like to capture on canvas.”
